We have a goal to be net zero, to collect enough water to irrigate the yard throughout the year and achieve a platinum LEED certification. Interpreting traditional building materials and colors to compliment the historic beach houses of the neighborhood was also our ambition.
The home is to be a couple’s full-time residence but also needs to accommodate visiting children with ample privacy. Being close to the beach, practical indoor/outdoor features (such as access to a bathroom from the outside and being able to store surfboards and bikes without taking away too much SF from the living quarters) were also essential.
