The original structure, a wonderfully-preserved, elegant home, needed upgrading to speak to new standards for a master suite and a desire for a great room. A previous remodel cut off the historic entry from view, and made it difficult to wayfind. Studio Schicketanz replaced this entryway with a circular driveway, solving both aesthetic and functional problems. The design elongates the home, creating a new wing that mirrors the original geometries of the building for continuity, though in materials that lift the home and offer contrast.
