Mary Ann Schicketanz

Mary Ann Gabriele Schicketanz – AIA, LEED Green Associate – Principal Architect

Mary Ann has been a practicing architect for more than two decades, with a portfolio spanning the Western United States, as well as Europe. A native of Austria, she brings a European sensibility to the practice of sustainable building and design. She is known for creating designs that offer classic simplicity and natural elegance, efficient floor plans and easy flow. A leader in the integration of green design principles with strong thematic design concepts, her work is widely published and she frequently speaks on the subject. She has previously taught design at the Lyceum and lectured on design principles at the Cherry Foundation and at the San Francisco Design Center. Mary Ann is an AIA Monterey Bay Board member and also serves on the Board of the Philip Glass Center.

Adam Pinterits – Executive Assistant & Marketing Coordinator

Adam brings a diverse range of administrative and marketing experience to Studio Schicketanz. After earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Human Communications from California State University Monterey Bay, he supported operations for land use policy makers. He went on to promote sustainable business practices including LEED green building standards and sustainable forestry while working with the nonprofit Future 500. Raised in Vienna and San Francisco, Adam is passionate about helping build and publicize more sustainable communities and ecologically integrated living and working spaces.

Jacobus Swarts – Associate Architect
New Jersey Institute of Technology, B.A. in Architecture
Jacobus has worked extensively as an architectural designer since completing his Architecture degree at NJIT in 2004.  His portfolio of work encompasses residences, wineries and restaurants in the USA and South Africa, his country of birth. These are testimonials of his ability to visualize and realize spaces which uniquely respond to and are in symbiosis with their environment.

Lorena Akin – LEED AP – Intern Architect
North Carolina State University, Masters of Architecture
Autonomous University of Chiapas, Mexico, B.A. in Architecture
Lorena brings with her a wealth of varied experience, ranging from construction sites in Latin America to commercial and residential design projects in the United States. With a focus on sustainable design, she uses Building Information Management (BIM) software to efficiently bring projects from initial concept to completion. Lorena joined Studio Schicketanz after completing her Masters of Architecture at North Carolina State University and completing an internship with a large national architecture firm.

Jonas Raniel D. Santiago – LEED Green Associate – Intern Architect
Adamson University, Manila Philippines, B.S. in Architecture
Jonas has over 10 years of experience working in a diversified range of residential architecture. In 2003, he earned his Bachelors of Architecture from Adamson University in the Philippines, passing his native country’s architectural licensure exam three years later. He then moved to Singapore, working for an architectural consulting firm specializing in mid-rise commercial projects and high-rise residential condominiums. In 2015, to further his understanding of on-site building and overall construction, he joined an interior renovation contracting firm in Singapore. After moving to the United States, Jonas joined Studio Schicketanz, bringing his wide array of knowledge and experience to the firm.

Kumaresh Sekaran – Consulting Architect

REC Trichy, India, B.A. in Architecture
Kumaresh has a diverse 23 years of experience in the field of architecture. He has designed everything from bungalows to high-rises, and has contributed to urban planning and mixed use developments in Singapore, Malaysia, China, and Taiwan. Later, he relocated to Colorado where he specialized in ski resort residential villas. In California, his projects include transit systems in San Jose and coastal properties in the Big Sur area. Kumaresh’s architecture has been showcased in several publications in the US and India. He lectures at CBT college and is a visiting design studio faculty member at RV College of Architecture. Now working with Studio Schicketanz on a consulting basis, he continues to be a valuable asset to our team.

Nicole Clapman – LEED AP BD+C, Allied ASID – Interior Designer
James Madison University, B.F.A. in Interior Design, Minor in Art History
Nicole has five years of experience in the design field with a background in residential interiors and furnishings. After receiving a BFA in Interior Design with a minor in Art History in 2010 from James Madison University, she worked as a designer on homes in Virginia Beach and Washington, DC before moving west. With a keen interest in sustainable design and a passion for the environment, she pursued LEED AP in Building Design and Construction and is an Allied member of the American Society of Interior Designers.

Stefanie Mckay – LEED Green Associate, Allied ASID – Interior Designer
California State University, Chico, B.F.A. in Interior Architecture, Minor in International Relations
Stefanie earned her B.F.A. in Interior Architecture from California State University Chico in 2016. During her studies, she interned with a landscape architecture firm whose sustainable practices sparked her commitment to environmentally conscious design. Shortly after graduation, she returned to her native Monterey County to join Studio Schicketanz and begin her career in the residential design industry.

Lindsay Bauer – Interior Design Assistant
Monterey Peninsula College – Currently Pursuing Interior Design
Lindsay is a Chicago native who grew up with a love for the arts and creativity, including design and architecture. She is currently working towards a degree in interior design at Monterey Peninsula College. She joined Studio Schicketanz eager to focus on sustainable design, and to extend her experience in the design industry.

Jay Auburn – Permit Coordinator
Saddleback College & Diablo Valley College

Jay joined Studio Schicketanz in 2001, bringing to the firm thirteen years of experience in planning and building permit processing in Monterey County, mostly in the Coastal Zone. Jay moves the planning process forward, working closely with the County Project Planners, processing applications, preparing for public hearings, handling condition fulfillment, and monitoring mitigation deadlines. Jay is responsible for coordinating with project consultants, preparing community LUAC meetings, and working with MPWMD, as well as coordinating building maintenance for several long-time clients.

Pam Contos – Bookkeeper
Pam is a skilled and dedicated Bookkeeper and Office Specialist with many years of experience, adept at developing and maintaining financial processes that improve and achieve expert organizational objectives. Her extensive background includes Executive Support and Bookkeeping at an architectural firm, Office Manager/Bookkeeper at a Certified Green food container manufacturing company, Executive Assistant to the Controller and Finance Department of a musical instrument manufacturing company, and Bank Supervisor. She has lived and worked in the Monterey area for the past twelve years, and is previously from the Santa Cruz and Marin County areas.
